While the LMGTE grid was just eight cars, each of the entrants were capable of winning. There were five Ferrari 488 GTEs and three Porsche 911 RSRs.
The Luzich Racing Ferrari took four wins, while the no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche and the no88 Proton Competition 911 secured one win each. JMW Motorsport, Kessel Racing, Spirit of Race and Ebimotors all took podium finishes during 2019, with the six pole position being shared by Kessel Racing, Dempsey-Proton Racing and Proton Competition.
The LMGTE category also featured the first all-female driver line up, with Rahel Frey, Manuela Gostner and Michelle Gatting racing in the no83 Kessel Racing Ferrari. They took two second place finishes in the six rounds and finished fourth overall in the championship.
Round 1: In Le Castellet, the LMGTE victory went to the no51 Luzich Racing Ferrari with reigning FIA World Endurance GTE Champion Alessandro Pier Guidi taking the chequered flag for a debut win for the Swiss team with Fabien Lavergne and Nicklas Nielsen.
Round 2: The no77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche took the LMGTE victory in Monza with Riccardo Pera finishing ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari of Matteo Cressoni and the no51 Luzich Racing F488 of Alessandro Pier Guidi.
Round 3: In Spain the no51 Luzich Racing Ferrari F488 GTE EVO also dominated the LMGTE category with Alessandro Pier Guidi bringing the car home well ahead of the no66 JMW Motorsport Ferrari and also ahead of most of the LMP3 grid.
Round 4: It was the no88 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR which was victorious in LMGTE at the 4 Hours of Silverstone, with Thomas Preining taking the flag 27.8 seconds ahead of the no83 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Rahel Frey.
Round 5: The no51 Luzich Racing Ferrari 488 GTE EVO took the lead at the start of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and held on to win the category in 14th overall, with Alessandro Pier Guidi taking the chequered flag just 2.7 seconds ahead of the no77 Dempsey Proton Racing Porsche. Fabien Lavergne, Nicklas Nielsen and Alessandro Pier Guidi stood on the top step of the Spa podium as 2019 ELMS LMGTE Champions with one race to go.
Round 6: Luzich Racing had already claimed the 2019 LMGTE Team and Driver titles at Spa-Francorchamps and the Swiss team finished their season off in style by claiming the victory in Portugal with Fabien Lavergne getting the race of to a great start, with Nicklas Nielsen and then Alessandro Pier Guidi bringing the no51 Ferrari F488 GTE EVO home 50 seconds ahead of the no60 Kessel Racing Ferrari.
